I grew up with a very humble life on a dairy farm in Northeast Texas.  While growing up in the country, I learned what real hard work was.  Anyone who has built a barbed wire fence in 105-degree Texas heat, hauled square bales in a field for hours on end under the Texas sun truly has an appreciation for hard work and determination.

From a young age the country didn’t have much to offer for my spare time. So I threw myself into any type of sporting event I could get into.  Basketball was my first love and I played the sport with reckless abandonment.  Unfortunately, sports aren’t forever and after high school I was confronted with the fact that I would no longer have the ability to stoke my competitive fire through organized team activities.  It was then that I was introduced to CrossFit.  After a year of CrossFit in my college gym facility and my garage, I discovered a local CrossFit box upon graduation from The University of Texas at Austin.  It was at this time that I really fell in love with the CrossFit community as much as I did the actual workouts themselves.  I then decided it was time to start a new challenge and open my own CrossFit box.

Then came Maximum 3 CrossFit in Kyle, Texas and shortly after Mach 3 CrossFit in Sulphur Springs, TX.  From these Boxes, the passion and fire for the community and helping people grew even further. Now, during the craziest of years, I am excited to bring my love of Crossfit to Houston, TX.

What does Heart and Hustle mean to you?

Talent can only take you so far.  If your heart isn’t in it you will never succeed. Heart and Hustle means giving everything I have to this community and its members, and hustling every single day to see people accomplish things they never thought imaginable. My passion for CrossFit is sewn into every fabric of my life and a life long work ethic has created a Hustle that will be unmatched for our members. Give me your Heart and Hustle and I promise I’ll give you mine!

My passion for CrossFit can go back to my days of being an athlete. I played sports all my life and loved every second of it. While working in the Middle East for the Department of Defense, we would do these great workouts that nobody had even heard of. When I got back to the states a friend of mine told me about this new sport called CrossFit. From that day 11 years ago I was hooked. This passion took me from just a regular athlete to a coach. I love seeing people achieve things they never thought they could. Being a coach at HXH allows me to be a part of a community  that not only encourages people to achieve their goals, but educates them on how to live a healthier lifestyle.

Outside of the gym and work, I am committed to my family, my golden retriever Kaplin, and my 6 nephews who are all under the age of 7. If you can’t find me at my desk working, with my dog, or with my nephews, then I am at HXH CrossFit bettering myself or helping others becoming all they want to be and more.

What does Heart and Hustle mean to you?

This is a community created with passion and love to inspire one another to find something within yourself that you didn’t know you were capable of. Crossfit and Heart X Hustle will continue to inspire me to do the same and for that this place means everything to me.

Collegiate Athlete

I have been a part of the CrossFit community for the last 10 years as both an athlete and a coach. I have my CrossFit Level I and have been coaching for 3 years. I have played sports my entire life and I was a collegiate rower at the University of Texas at Austin during my undergrad. After graduating, I started CrossFit as a way to stay active post college and never left. I love the fitness philosophy, community, and competitiveness that CrossFit brings.

Since starting CrossFit, I’ve increasingly found a passion to bring the best of the best to each athlete. I’ve been able to learn various coaching styles and techniques for varying experience levels. Through CrossFit,  I’ve been able to meet several great friends who share the same passion and drive for members, which has led to an exciting new chapter at Heart and Hustle Crossfit. ‘

What does Heart and Hustle mean to you?

The heart is what drives your passion. The hustle is what makes that passion a reality. We are putting all of our Heart and Hustle in this gym so that our clients can have a top notch training facility and premium Crossfit experience.

I found my passion for CrossFit in 2011 when I joined my local box. In 2014, I became a CrossFit level 1 trainer and began coaching shortly after. Since that time, I have spent over 2,200 hours coaching various levels of athletes within the CrossFit community. I enjoy watching others succeed and have a passion for creating unique and challenging workouts. One of my favorite things about CrossFit is the community competitions; I’ve even been dubbed the hardest judge in the gym! While I’m not at the gym I enjoy mountain biking, spending time with my wife Lauren, our two cats, and our dog, Jasper.

What does Heart and Hustle mean to you?

To me, HXH represents a place where I can share all the benefits of CrossFit that I have personally experienced with our community. Not just the health benefits but the less noticeable ones as well. It’s a place where a person can remove the stresses of the day, find a person to talk to, or challenge themselves through trying something new.

I started CrossFit about 10 years ago, in my early 40’s.  I had always played sports with a gymnastics background but life gets in the way and I never really kept up with exercising. After quite a few years and pounds, I was introduced to CrossFit….day 1, and I was hooked.  I was overweight and out of shape and thought there was no way I can do this…. I was wrong.

I am now in my 50’s and have since lost the weight and I’m in the best shape of my life. Starting from a very humble beginning, I have since become a competitive masters athlete and now your coach. My heart is with the masters athletes. They are a very positive and tenacious athlete. It takes a lot of heart to push yourself beyond your years. I admire those athletes who are older and willing to step outside their comfort zone.

What does Heart and Hustle mean to you?

To me, Heart and Hustle is the passion and drive to encourage and witness others push themselves mentally and physically towards success. You almost can’t have one without the other.
